There is a shortage of approximately 72,000 JSS teachers due to insufficient hiring funds. This is according to education cabinet secretary Julius Migos who noted that teachers will be retooled in multiple grade 9 subjects to bridge the gap. Meanwhile, the Kenya primary school heads association says that the allocation of one million shillings for construction of a single classroom is inadequate, noting that many schools will require more than two classrooms.
