It’s been more than six months now since Kenya’s parliamentary Defence committee launched an inquiry into alleged atrocities committed by the British Soldiers Training Unit in Kenya. BATUK has faced accusations from host communities related to cases of murder, and fatal traffic through hit – and – runs, Sexual violence and exploitation leading to unwanted pregnancies, Labour rights violations from Kenyan Employees at the BATUK barracks and Environmental pollution. In its response, the British High Commission says the UK Government is working closely with the Government of Kenya to accelerate the progress of investigations.
