The Christian faithful in Kenya have been urged to observe the lenten season by repentance, prayers and giving alms_ and to do so in secret. Pope's Representative to Kenya Archbishop Hubertus Matheus Maria van Megen made the plea while celebrating Ash Wednesday Mass at the Holy Family Basillica. Other catholic bishops in the country called on the nation's leadership to focus on the challenges facing Kenyans, and when they give in church, they should do so quietly. The catholic faithful were also asked to pray for Pope Francis who has been battling double pneumonia at the Vatican.
