Kenya Red Cross Society, through the funding of the British Red Cross, has initiated a flood recovery project targeting hundreds of farmers affected by the El Niño floods in 2023 in Kilifi and Tana River Counties. The projects done in partnership with the local governments included Water and Sanitation programs, supporting farmers with climate smart seeds that take a short period to mature for farmers to sell and for personal consumption. Kenya Red Cross Society Emergency Response Manager Anthony Muchiri, the project has been a success, with a section of farmers earning a living from harvest sales.
