A section of women in Busia County have been enrolled in Climate Smart Agriculture courtesy of a Non Governmental Organisation which trains women on agricultural practices that are environmentally sustainable and economically viable. According to the Village Enterprise regional manager Carolyne Wafula the initiative targets women in the remote areas in the county where they are taught new agricultural skills and financial literacy skills to help them thrive in a changing climate. During a women’s forum held in Mungatsi, Busia County Wafula said the women have been organized into groups and clusters, where they are being encouraged to grow short-term crops such as vegetables, which are more resilient to climate change.
