Community leaders in Lamu County have raised an alarm over the significant increase in teenage pregnancies and early marriages this year compared to 2023.Statistics from Mpeketoni Health Centre show that at least 52 cases of early pregnancies were recorded in the period under review. Among the cases, 42 required surgical intervention to give birth, with the youngest victim being a 13-year-old. The leaders are calling on the relevant authorities to initiate public awareness campaigns on the serious implications of early motherhood and marriage.
