Food insecurity, safety issues, housing problems and the absence of reliable and affordable infrastructure have been cited as main challenges facing a majority of low-income earners living in urban cities. Speaking during the launch of the Nairobi City report, African Cities Research Consortium stakeholders emphasized the need for collaboration among stakeholders to address these issues in the face of rapid urbanization.
